What would volunteering involve?

We are seeking more volunteers to help run and develop the library service, improve the building and restore its heritage garden. We have a number of roles for volunteers. Please download our current role profiles here: Job Roles

We currently prioritising the recruitment of  Library Assistants for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons (1.30 to 5.30 pm), and Children's Activity Leaders.

Would I get any training?

There will be formal training for some volunteers depending on the roles and responsibilities. We will ensure that you receive the mentoring, training and support required to perform your role comfortably to a high standard. 

How do I volunteer?

Consider which roles you may be interested in helping us with and then complete our volunteer application form (DOC, 48 KB) to tell us about your skills and experience and availability.

  • Educational and training activities—formal and informal
  • Heritage and restoration
  • Legal
  • Marketing and publicity
  • Premises and facilities management
  • Recruiting, training and developing volunteers
  • ICT systems use and management
  • Website development and social media
  • Working with children
