Summer Reading Challenge 2019

posted 29 Jun 2019, 08:37 by David Chinchen

This starts on Saturday 13 July and this year's theme is Space Chase. The Challenge is for children aged 4-11yrs to read six books in the six weeks of the summer holidays. This year we have purchased all the recommended titles from the Reading Agency list (71 books). You can borrow and read any book in the library to complete the Challenge. If you borrow the recommended reads please return then as soon as possible so that others can enjoy them. We do hope that families will support this initiative which is intended to help develop that life-long love of discovery through reading that is so important for us all.

Please sponsor Sarah!

Sarah Keen, a regular user of our library, is hoping to raise funds for Broomhill Library by running the Sheffield half-marathon on Sunday 14 April. Funds raised will be used for the purchase of new books and toys for the Children’s Library.

Sarah has created a justgiving page and we will be publicising this widely. As of 30 March £213.00 has been pledged against the target to raise £300.00. Please circulate this to family, friends and neighbours if you are able. Our thanks to Sarah for choosing Broomhill Library as the beneficiary of her commendable effort to prepare for and run in this race. You can donate by following this link:
