Broomhill Library will be closed on Monday August 27th and will reopen as usual on Tuesday 28th August.

Children's Summer Reading Challenge - The Mischief Makers

Broomhill Festival - Thank you!

Thank you for supporting the events in the Broomhill Community Library, raising funds for the Broomhill Community Trust which is the charity aiming to raise funds to improve the facilities for everyone at the library.
Our book sale goes on - just not quite as enormous as during the festival!

Closure over Easter & on Wednesday 4th April

The library will be closed from 5.30 pm on Wednesday 28th March through to 10.00 am on Tuesday 3rd April for the Easter break. We are OPEN on Tuesday 3rd April, but we shall also be closed on WEDNESDAY 4th APRIL because of the electrical work that is taking place. To renew books online please go to  or call us on 0114 273 4276 when the library is open. We will then reopen at 10.00 am on Friday 6th April.

Computer Support Sessions

We are now able to offer computer support sessions on Tuesday and Saturday mornings between 10.00am and 12.00pm. These are intended for adults who are less confident with using e-mail, finding information on-line and organising their personal computer. Sessions last an hour and need to be booked in advance at the library, via or on 0114 273 4276.

Fire Safety Upgrade Works

Work to upgrade the fire detection system and fire proofing at the library will take place between Monday 12 March and Thursday 29 March. Whilst no library closures are planned we have taken the precaution of extending loan periods until Tuesday 3 April. We intend that all regular activities and events will take place as planned during this period. Should temporary closures be required at short notice, details will be made available at the library and through the website, Twitter and Facebook. 

Library Annual General Meeting

The AGM will take place on Saturday 10 March 2018 between 4.30pm and 6.00pm at the Beacon Methodist Church in Broomhill. This will be a joint AGM for Broomhill Community Library (BCL) Ltd and the newly formed charitable incorporated organisation, Broomhill Community Trust (BCT). Together with the annual report and the election of Trustees, the meeting will also feature a presentation by Thread Architects who have recently been commissioned to develop options for the development of the building and heritage gardens. All who are concerned about the future of the library are welcome to attend. If you wish to take part in the election of Trustees you will need to be a member of BCL and/or BCT. Membership is free but requires registration at the library by 23 February 2018.
