Join the library
Membership of Sheffield City Library is free. A access a wide range of books, e-books, computers and other resources for members.
How to join the library:
Online by completing the application form
In person by completing a form at Broomhill Community Library or any local library or the Central Library. You can also find application forms in community languages here.
Join as an Adult
Please bring ID with a photo and/or address. (To use Sheffield Archives, bring 2 proofs of ID, including name, address and signature).
Join as a child under 16 years of age
If your parent/carer is present when you join, they need to sign the form.
If your parent/carer is not present when you join, you can take out up to two items and your card and a letter will be posted out to your parent/ carer. When you next visit a library with the card, you will have full borrowing rights.
Join as a Young Adult aged 16 or 17 years
Show one form of ID with a photo and/ or address and you borrow straight away.
Joining the library without Identification
No ID on you? You will have limited borrowing rights.
Request a PIN
You need a PIN to reserve or renew items online. If you do not have a PIN or have lost/forgotten it you can request your PIN online.

Use the catalogue to find a book or to see if it's available. Click here to go to the SCC catalogue.
If you have never used the system before, you can download a help sheet here .

Books can be kept for 3 weeks. Please renew your books if possible.
If you don't have access to the online system please call us on 0114 273 4276 during opening hours or email us - enquiries@broomhill-library.org.uk and we will look on the catalogue and reserve books for you.

You can also use a scanner, print documents in B&W or in colour, use our wi-fi or photocopier if you have a library card.
We can laminate your documents safe from the rain.
School visits
We would love to introduce your class to Broomhill Community Library.
School visits happen on Thursdays when we are normally closed to the public so that the children can enjoy the library to the full and all that it has to offer. Our school visits team are ready to show you around, read some stories, offer an activity if time allows and inspire the children to read.

Borrow e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and more from your local library for free! Libby is the newer library reading app. To use Libby, you will need your library card number and PIN. If you don't have these, please get in touch. Further information available here.
Home Library service
Do you struggle to get into your local library because of health or access problems? Do you know someone that would enjoy a regular home visit? Our friendly staff deliver books, talking books, DVDs and jigsaw puzzles directly to your home.
This is for any Sheffield resident
who is unable to get to their local library and has no-one to help them do so
who has no-one to visit the library for them
who may be able to get to the library but cannot carry the books they've chosen

Hearing Aid Batteries
Three of the most common types of the hearing aid batteries are still available from us so if you don't want to go to the Hallamshire for your next supply, come and see us, and we will let you have some. The battery codes are: 13AU-NHS (orange background in the packet), P312 and P675
